Josh Kalis, Backside 180. Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco. 1995.
This photo was shot during the primitive years of the mighty Alien Workshop. Josh Kalis was living in San Francisco at the time and Skin Phillips was shooting for Transworld Skateboarding Magazine. Skin drove up to San Francisco from San Diego and met Josh and fellow Alien Workshop teammate Lennie Kirk and they drove out to the Golden Gate bridge. Josh had already scoped this as a potential spot and knew the incredible backdrop could make a great photo. Skin moved around in his early attempts before pulling back, shooting wider and finding the perfect angle..
The photo featured on the cover of the November 1995 issue of Transworld Skateboarding Magazine and is one of the most iconic photos of Josh Kalis' skateboarding career.
