Matt Hensley, Oceanside. 1996.
Matt Hensley’s contribution to skateboarding culture is immense, Skin became close friends with Matt as they lived close-by each other in Oceanside, Ca. Since Matt loved British culture it was a natural bond. This portrait was taken for Warp Magazine and is influenced by Irving Penn. Skin made this alcove from paper and 2x4 in the cafe area of the Transworld offices. To quote Skin, “They say never meet your heroes because you'll be disappointed - not in the case of Matt Hensley, he's one of the few.”
