Vans celebrates Geoff Rowley’s career with a limited offering of the Rowley Pro and the Rowley Long Sleeve. The Rowley RapidWeld Pro LTD in limited-edition asphalt/black and solid black colorways will be available September 21, honouring Geoff Rowley’s influence over the past twenty years.
The colours hark back to the charcoal grey and black Vans Native Americans that Geoff purchased in different sizes during the ‘90s, he carried that sense of nostalgia into the design process for the Rowley RapidWeld Pro LTD. In his first-ever skate magazine cover he was wearing that same pair of Vans he'd purchased for just £5.
Arriving from Liverpool in the mid ‘90s, Geoff turned the skate industry on its head, introducing a whole new generation of skaters to vulcanized footwear and the benefits of a shoe built from the ground up.
The re-imagined Rowley RapidWeld Pro LTD has been built to reflect Geoff’s demanding skate style and the DNA of his first ever Vans model. Now combined with technical updates that allow him to continue to push boundaries in ways only he can.
RapidWeld eliminates bulk with its upper panel welding, making use of a thin, heat-fused film between panels, replacing the need for conventional stitching. This forms a strong bond, which is durable, flexible and lighter than traditional construction. A slimmer tongue and ankle padding further reduce both visual and physical bulk.
The Rowley Pro has been created using Vans’ WaffleCup construction – a combination of vulcanized flick and board-feel in the forefoot, all whilst giving support to the midfoot and heel and delivering durability.
The shoe is built with Geoff’s favorite version of the UltraCush HD sockliner, which provides the highest level of impact cushioning without packing out. The LuxLiner’s internal integration of the tongue and lining provides a comfortable fit. Duracap reinforced rubber underlays can be found in high-wear areas to aid durability, the goal being to save skateboarders both time and money.
The limited-edition Rowley RapidWeld Pro LTD is finished with a RapidWeld tongue tag. The logo sits in contrast to the shoe’s suede and mesh upper, and is accented with an embossed heel featuring “66/99” – referencing the year of Vans inception and the year Geoff joined the brand.
The Rowley RapidWeld Pro LTD in asphalt/black and solid black, as well as the Rowley Long Sleeve in asphalt overdye, are now available here on Parade.
