Palace Jamal Smith Pro Boards

A nice bit of pre-Christmas hype was the news that Jamal Smith is now a professional skateboarder for Palace Skateboards.

To mark the occasion Palace released the above video of Jamal skating Ithaca skatepark, the same skatepark where Jamal’s legendary Tornado Spin tutorial was filmed in 2006.

He joked, on his now deleted Twitter so excuse the paraphrase, ‘I am pro and I have never done a handrail or landed a regular tre flip’. Which is actually pretty inspirational.

Jamal first became associated with Palace Skateboards back in 2013. He sent a tweet to Lucien Clarke requesting they find somewhere in Philadelphia to stock Palace gear so he could buy it. Lucien tagged in the Palace account, they asked Jamal for his size and address and the rest is history.

To mark Jamal’s newly crowned professional status Palace have released two skateboard decks bearing his name – the Jamal Pro Fast deck which features Jamal’s name in Palace’s Fast font, and the Jamal Shower deck.
