Mike O’Meally was born in Sydney, Australia. He started shooting skateboarding for Slam Skateboard Magazine, before moving to the US and taking a Staff Photographer role at the legendary Slap Magazine. Slap was a pioneer of how skateboard magazines were presented and the style of photography which was featured. Mike settled in New York City, where he quickly started to document the rising scene, which involved shooting many influential figures in skateboarding at the time.
His role at Slap took him around the world and he continued to produce a high level of work that since become his trademark. Post Slap Magazine he continued the pace and went on to shot some of the most iconic images of modern skateboarding. All during a period of such influence, style and progression - which has given his work a timeless nature.
Currently living in Los Angeles, Mike continues to build on his huge archive, regularly shooting the pinnacle of skateboarding and continually pushing himself and his craft.
