The Converse Chuck Taylor is arguably the world's most classic sneaker spanning generations and unwittingly becoming one the first skate shoes.
Converse bring an iconic assortment of sneakers to skateboarding - the Chuck Taylor (CTAS Pro), the One Star Pro, Jack Purcell Pro and Breakpoint Pro. All the models are of a timeless design, in 1955 Marty McFly skated Chucks as he went Back to the Future, and subsequently re-introduced skateboarding to the wider world. The Converse One Star was a skateboarding staple in the 90s and featured in many classic skate videos, such as Guy Mariano in Mouse. Of late, Louie Lopez was given a signature pro model by Converse.
As you'd expect, Converse are available in endless colourways of black, white, yellow, purple amongst many. Converse are largely made from canvas with vulc soles and are a popular choice for when shopping vegan shoes, but the skateboard line is available in suede and leather for more durability.
Although the Converse skate program is about ten years old it was the 2014 release of the Supreme's Cherry video that really put the brand front-and-center. The black and white Chuck Taylor has been worn by many skateboarders over the years who sought a simple and functional shoe that worked well for skateboarding. It wasn't until Sean Pablo and Sage Elsesser, who were unknown until the Cherry video release, repped Converse hard that it was given a modern style. The timeless silhouette once again became vogue and reignited the spark within Converse Skateboarding.
The Converse skate team is a diverse mix of skaters who all check the box of individual style and creativity. Tommy Guerrero, Kenny Anderson, Zered Bassett, Sammy Baca, Jake Johnson, Mike Anderson, Al Davis, Aaron Herrington, Raney Beres all mix it with the younger crew of radicals: Sage, Sean, Kevin Rodrigues, Bobby de Keyzer, Ben Raemers and Louie Lopez.
