Girl Skateboards

Girl Skateboards

Girl Skateboards was created by founding members Mike Carroll and Rick Howard. They left their previous sponsor - Plan B Skateboards - and grabbed a serious bunch of talent to join them in creating Girl Skateboards.

Jovontae Turner, Guy Mariano, Rudy Johnson, Tim Gavin, Tony Ferguson, Sean Sheffey, and Jeron Wilson were the original line-up and this caused a global stir within the skateboard industry. Also involved in running the show was Megan Baltimore and Spike Jonze, the now legendary Hollywood filmmaker, who filmed their first video titled 'Goldfish' in 1994. This was quickly followed by Mouse in 1996, largely seen as the perfect skate video with Guy Mariano’s part still considered one the finest ever produced. Yeah Right! came in 2003 with team additions Rick McCrank and Brandon Biebel. Girl later added Mike Mo Capaldi, Jereme Rogers, Sean Malto, and Alex Olson, who were first seen in Pretty Sweet in 2012.

Girl skateboard decks are renown for having a high level of artistic input. Through their ‘Art Dump’ department ran by Andy Jenkins, Andy Mueller, and Eric Anthony, they work with artists such as Geoff McFetridge, Kevin Lyons, Evan Hecox and Hershel Baltrotsky to produce some of the best board graphics for both Girl Skateboards and sister brand Chocolate.
