Stereo Skateboards was founded in 1992. Long term friends Jason Lee and Chris Pastras decided that the skateboard world was missing a company which represented the creativity and inspiration that drove them.
The Stereo Sound Agency, as they were known, released two full-length videos, A Visual Sound in 1994 and Tin Can Folklore in 1996. Both of which are now considered classics. They brought a style that hadn’t been seen in skateboarding before, making use of 8mm film, black and white still photography and avant-garde soundtracks.
The design of their skateboard graphics was also far away from the world of 1990s cartoon-style graphics, with Stereo making use of a retro-modern style. The company is still going strong all these years later and their place in skateboarding’s rich history is rightly confirmed.
