The crew spent over a year, and took several trips, filming for Credits, with Vans wishing to showcase and celebrate the energy and personalities of the global women's skate community. The video features some of the brightest talents in women's skateboarding and centres around Una Farrar, Breana Geering and Fabiana Delfino - showcasing the style and expression of a group of friends who skate, hang out and travel together.
Credits is an important milestone for the women's skate community, as it's the first video by a major brand to feature an all-women cast as, well as being filmed and directed by a woman. The films' title sets out to challenge the idea that women are only ever showcased in the credits sections of videos. Instead, Vans gives them full parts as the stars in their own major video.
“Everyone had the opportunity to film their best skating over the past year, with their homies cheering them on,” director White said of the project. “That is what skateboarding is all about! The laughter and friendship, along with the battles - I hope viewers get a sense of that feeling.”
The film also includes cameo appearances from some more familiar names including Vans team riders and friends: Beatrice Domond, Cher Strauberry, Clara Solar, Poppy Olsen (who art directed the film), Helena Long, Adelaide Norris, Dayana Young and director Shari White herself.
“Credits is just some best friends having a good time and making a skate video” added Geering.
The video was filmed in locations from the US and Canada, to Melbourne, Australia and Barcelona, Spain.
