Sour Solution and Vans join forces to release a forbidden fruit inspired two-part collection. Sour and Vans riders Albert Nyberg and Oscar Candon front the exclusive range which includes a Sk8 Hi Pro and Authentic Pro.
The two classic Vans silhouettes have been reimagined to stand up to the demands of the Sour boys left-field approach to skateboarding. Both styles come in a marshmallow colour way with tasteful ruby red detailing, a subtle nod to the Adam and Eve inspired artwork created by Jonathan Lomar, Sour’s resident artist.
The Vans Sk8 Hi first debuted in 1978, known at the time as the Style 38, featuring Vans signature side stripe detailing. The Sk8 Hi took regular skate shoe functionality above the ankle, giving greater protection from rogue skateboards. This alone made them very popular with skateboarders. The Sk8 Hi was commonly customised by wearers, which in turn saw the beginnings of the Vans Custom program.
The Vans Authentic was first released even earlier, not long after Vans opened the doors of their Anaheim factory in 1966. The silhouette was known as the Style 44. During skateboarding’s explosion in California in the early 1970s the Vans Authentic became the shoe of choice. This was thanks to its grippy rubber sole and great board feel. From then on the Authentic’s place in skateboarding history was guaranteed.
The exclusive Sour x Vans collaboration will be available from Saturday 19th October here on Parade.
